What If I Do Nothing?

Even if teeth are only damaged and not completely missing, it doesn’t mean that your neighboring teeth won’t start to notice. Teeth will naturally compensate for open space created by damaged teeth, even if the root is still intact. Furthermore, damaged teeth are only prone to becoming more damaged over time, resulting in higher treatment costs. For example, a tooth damaged by decay that only required a filling today will likely need a full crown six months from now if left untreated.

Tooth Crown

One of the most common restorative treatments in dentistry, dental crowns are crucial in many cases. They can prevent teeth from breaking apart further, seal them away from oral bacteria, and keep your bite even. Their use is largely intended to make chewing, smiling and speaking easy again, so you can live your life without interruptions. With proper brushing and flossing every day, they can last at least a decade before needing any sort of replacement.

Tooth Filling

For mild to moderately damaged teeth, our dental office uses tooth-colored dental fillings for effective restoration. Instead of relying on silver (amalgam) material to restore teeth, our dental office uses composite resin, which is a mixture made from glass and plastic. The result is a durable material that’s easier to shape inside of teeth, requires little to no removal of tooth structure to place, and does not cause long-term problems (sensitivity, fracturing of natural tooth structure) typically noted from patients who currently have silver fillings. Replacing your silver cavity fillings with composite resin is typically recommended for this reason.

One-Visit Dental Restorations

If you ever needed a crown in the past, you would have to wait at least two weeks before the crown could be created and placed. Even then, you had to bite into goopy, gray impression material so that the offsite lab could use the mold as a model for your new tooth. Today, crown fabrication and teeth restoration can be done entirely in-house at Carefree Smiles Dentistry thanks to the CEREC Omni Cam! This device not only removes the needs for traditional impression clay thanks to its 3D scanning capabilities but fabricates your crown through a milling system in our dental office in less than one hour!

Full-Mouth Reconstruction

During your consultation, we’ll distinguish all your problem areas and create a treatment plan for dental reconstruction that addresses your needs. Whether it’s an extensive list of fillings or crowns, we want to take every step necessary to restore your oral health and give you the confidence to smile again!
