Get to Know Destry B. Cook, DDS
After serving as the Dental Director for Hidalgo Medical Services in New Mexico, Dr. Cook chose to relocate to Phoenix and start serving patients’ smiles in a private practice setting. Today, his career in oral healthcare spans over 17 years and counting! He really enjoys working one-on-one with people from all walks of life and being able to improve their lives in meaningful ways. Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
The story behind Dr. Cook’s career is actually pretty simple – While on summer break from college, his small-town family dentist invited him to come and shadow his work for a while. This hands-on experience ignited a big spark of interest, and the rest is history!
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After attending Western New Mexico University for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Cook pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at New York University. He is also a big proponent of continuing education, regularly frequenting the Scottsdale Center and SPEAR study clubs for a wide variety of advanced courses. Today, he really enjoys practicing dentistry with a big emphasis on advanced technology, including CEREC and dental lasers – in fact, he’s certified in both the diode laser and the hard tissue laser. This strong commitment to clinical excellence has definitely earned him the loyalty and trust of his patients over the years.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Dr. Cook has been married to his wife Mandy for over 25 years now; together, they have a daughter named Gabriella and a son who is also named Destry. When he isn’t busy at work, he hunts everywhere possible, goes trout fishing, spends quality time outdoors, and plays tennis with his daughter. His family also regularly attends Diamondback games and actually holds season tickets to the Arizona Cardinals!
